Phillip Smith Headshot

Philip Smith is an Honorary Consultant Luminal Gastroenterologist at the Royal Liverpool Hospital and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool, UK. A graduate of the University of Nottingham, Smith trained as a gastroenterologist at University College London. His expertise spans inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), intestinal failure, and patient transition care. 

As both a leading expert and a Crohn’s patient, Smith brings a unique perspective to his work. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and contributed to national guidelines, including the British Society of Gastroenterology’s IBD guidelines. A sought-after speaker, Smith has presented at global conferences in Australia, the USA, and beyond.
