Immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, axial spondyloarthritis, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and inflammatory bowel disease, affect up to 10% of the Western population. Due to their overlapping pathogeneses, these chronic inflammatory diseases are now treated according to their pathological mechanism. These mechanisms involve the increased production of the cytokine tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α, leading to excessive inflammation and consequently to organ damage.
