Immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, axial spondyloarthritis, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and inflammatory bowel disease, affect up to 10% of the Western population. These mechanisms involve the increased production of the cytokine tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α, leading to excessive inflammation and consequently to organ damage.
