Otometrics and Maastrict University Drive Greater Understanding of the Paradigm Shift in Vestibular Assessment with New Master Class

More than 200 clinicians to gather in Amsterdam to learn new ways of working with vestibular patients

Taastrup, Denmark | April 7, 2016 – GN Otometrics, the leading global manufacturer of hearing and balance instrumentation will host a two-day vestibular master class in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Herman Kingma and Maastrict University, September 16-17, 2016 at the Marriott Hotel in Amsterdam.

This is the second European vestibular master class organized by Otometrics and is for clincians looking to increase their knowledge and understanding of the vestibular system. Delegates will learn how to manage patients, interpret patient information effectively and use the latest technology to perform vestibular assessment and diagnosis in an objective way. They will also have opportunities to learn from the masters within the field and take part in practical demonstrations using the ICS® Impulse, a modular vestibular assessment solution from Otometrics developed in cooperation with Drs. Curthoys and Halmagyi.

“There have been so many new developments within the area of vestibular assessment and diagnosis in the last six years,” says Prof. Dr. Herman Kingma. “New technologies and techniques now make it possible to evaluate and treat patients in a more objective way. Events like these are important in helping healthcare professionals understand this paradigm shift and learn how to apply these new techniques and technologies effectively in their daily practice.”
Speakers include Prof. Dr. Med. Herman Kingma, who is also the chairperson for the event, Prof. Dr. Med. G.M. Halmagyi, from the Department of Neurology, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Prof. Dr. Med. Michael Strupp from Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and Dr. Med Ricardo Ceballos from Centro Médico ABC, Mexico City and chairperson of the Vestibular Project, a non-profit educational resource. The two-day program includes lectures as well as hands-on practical experience. A roundtable discussion is planned for the first evening that will address how the diagnostic flow has changed and what the main differences are.

“We are extremely pleased to be working with Prof. Dr. Kingma and Maastrict University on this event,” says Anders Lund, marketing manager at Otometrics. “We see a growing interest among clinicians to learn more about vestibular assessment using new and modern assessment tools. Master classes such as this one are the perfect opportunity. It gives clinicians hands-on experience, the opportunity to ask questions about the latest techniques and technologies and refresh their knowledge of the vestibular system so they can shorten their patients’ journey to diagnosis and treatment.”
