They review Jeff’s career with reference to advances in flexible endoscopy and the rise of medical devices, also discussing innovative approaches to surgery, and the evolution of medical training. The pair finish by evaluating modern medicine and the high cost of drugs.

Speaker Bio

Dr. Jeffrey Ponsky completed his surgical training at the University Hospitals of Cleveland and went on to direct Surgical Endoscopy there. Just to name a few of his accolades, Dr. Ponsky served as Surgeon-in-Chief at Case Western University School of Medicine, has completed several presidencies, including for the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and serves editorial board of numerous journals.
Dr. Ponsky is the originator of the percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy which provided a minimally invasive substitute for operative placement of feeding tubes.

He retired from clinical practice in 2022 and is presently Professor Emeritus of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Ponsky has been married to his wife Jackie for 52 years, has four children and ten grandchildren, and enjoys traveling, lecturing and caring for his horses.
