Aims and Scope
Microbiology & Infectious Diseases The American Journal is an open-access, peer-reviewed eJournal committed to publishing the highest quality medical research concerning all aspects of the prevention, diagnosis, and management of infectious diseases in humans.
The journal is published annually, six weeks after the Infectious Diseases Week Congress (IDWeek), and features highlights from this congress, alongside interviews with experts in the field, reviews of abstracts presented at the congress, as well as in-depth features on congress sessions. Additionally, it covers advances within the clinical and pharmaceutical arenas by publishing sponsored content from congress symposia, which is of high educational value for healthcare professionals. This undergoes rigorous quality control checks by independent experts and the in-house editorial team.
Microbiology & Infectious Diseases AMJ also publishes peer-reviewed research papers, review articles, and case reports in the field. In addition, the journal publishes features and opinion pieces intended to create a discussion around key topics in the field and broaden readers’ professional interests. The journal is managed by a dedicated editorial team that adheres to a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, maintains high standards of copy editing, and ensures timely publication.
Microbiology & Infectious Diseases AMJ endeavors to increase knowledge, stimulate discussion, and contribute to a better understanding of infectious diseases. We do not publish veterinary science papers or laboratory studies that are not linked to patient outcomes. We have a particular interest in topical studies that advance knowledge and inform of coming trends affecting clinical practice in infectious disease.
