Speaker:  

Qasim Akram is a Consultant Rheumatologist and General Physician based in Manchester, UK. His subspecialist interests are musculoskeletal ultrasound, early inflammatory arthritis, and giant cell arteritis (GCA)/large vessel vasculitis (LVV). He currently leads the Stockport Early Inflammatory Arthritis Ultrasound Clinic and the Giant Cell Arteritis Fast Track Pathway.   

He is a European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) Ultrasound Instructor, and teaches at a local, regional, and national level. He is the founder and director of the ‘Rheumatology Ultrasound Course Manchester,’ a lead instructor for the North West Rheumatology Ultrasound Network, and a British Society of Rheumatology trainer.   

His main clinical research interests are focused on the use of ultrasound in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis/spondyloarthopathies, crystal arthritis, and GCA/LVV.
