United Kingdom, May 31, 2016: Welcome to the latest edition of EMJ Hepatology, which provides a collection of articles on the latest hepatology research and news from the International Liver Congress (ILC) 2016. This issue includes a comprehensive review of this absorbing event from the biggest news stories to fascinating abstracts, interviews with our esteemed editorial board, as well as many peer-reviewed articles.
ILC 2016 was full of innovative and exciting developments in addition to controversial discussions and debates. In this eJournal there is a comprehensive review of this congress, from news stories on topics including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and liver transplant survival rates, to abstract reviews of the most interesting research presented at the congress. Also included are interviews with two esteemed Editorial Board members who have shared their views on the congress, their own research, and other topics within the field. There is also a thorough review of presentations that were made on rifaximin use in cirrhosis-related hepatological disorders in the symposium review section.
In the second part of the eJournal there are a number of cutting-edge peer-reviewed articles. In the editor’s pick, Quagliata deliberates the various classifications of hepatocellular carcinoma from clinical to laboratory tests, whilst Kgatle and Setshedi discuss the progression of the immunopathogenesis of chronic hepatitis B from early acute inflammation to late-stage malignant transformation, finishing with an anticipatory glance at possible future directions for research and treatment.
Additionally, Fengler et al. look at modelling different liver diseases in murine models, evaluating gender, genetic, and dietary influences. All of this and much more can be viewed in this edition of EMJ Hepatology, which is available here.
Zoë Webster, Head of Publishing at EMJ said: “Everyone at EMJ has really enjoyed working on this eJournal, which contains a plethora of topics from the field of hepatology. We hope that our readers find it as exciting and informative as we do!”
