Lee emphasises the importance of different types of treatment in cancer due to the disease’s resilience and discusses revolutionary treatment techniques, including tumour ablation, histotripsy, and how he believes robots will play a role in future treatments.

Speaker Bio

Fred T. Lee Jr. is a Professor of Radiology, Biomedical Engineering, and Urology as well as the Robert A. Turrell Professor of Imaging Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, USA. Since starting his career at the university in 1991, Lee has had over 250 scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journal and more that 60 major awards, including multiple ‘Best Doctor’ awards. He also holds 25 patents for his inventions.

Lee has co-founded two venture-backed medical device companies, Elucent Medical (Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA) and NeuWave Medical (Madison, Wisconsin, USA), and is the founding member of the International Working Group for Tumor Ablation, which is one of his special interests. Currently, he is serving on the board of directors for HistoSonics (Plymouth, Minnesota, USA), a biotech company focusing on non-invasion ultrasound technology for cancer cell destruction.
