Abramson, MD, of the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, Boston, MA, discusses advances in the treatment of patients with follicular lymphoma. In the relapsed setting, novel therapeutic agents include the phosphoinositide 3-kinase inhibitors, idelalisib and duvelisib; the immunomodulatory agent, lenalidomide; the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody, obinutuzumab; the Bcl-2 inhibitor, venetoclax; and antibody-drug conjugates. In the frontline setting, novel therapeutic approaches include a combination of lenalidomide and the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody, rituximab.
