Brian Van Tine graduated with a BSc in biochemistry from the University of Arizona, Tucson, USA, in 1995, and then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA, where he graduated with an MD, and later a PhD. Brian continued his education at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital at the Washington University in St. Louis, first as an intern in internal medicine, which he followed with a residency, and then fellowship in oncology. Van Tine is Professor of Medicine in medical oncology and Professor of Paediatrics at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He is also the current Director of the Developmental Therapeutics Phase I programme.
Since 1990, Brian has received numerous honours and awards, including the first place poster from the Washington University in St. Louis Breast Cancer Symposium. He is also no stranger to the media, having had a number of articles published in the news, along with nearly 150 articles published in medical journals. Brian is a prolific author, who also has 12 book chapters to his name.
