The peer-reviewed articles published this year are of a broad and varied nature. Sathananthan et al. illuminate the evolution and benefits of the Fontan procedure, a treatment for complex paediatric heart disease, since its inception >40 years ago. In a case report by Einvik et al., treatment of cardiac arrest during pregnancy, along with its causes and outcomes, is examined. Continuing with the theme of imaging, Kim presents a discussion of non-invasive techniques available for the measurement of arterial stiffness in coronary artery disease; elsewhere a comprehensive overview of coronary artery spasm is offered by Demir et al.
