Speaker bio:

Starting her medical career by obtaining a nursing degree from the Rochdale School of Nursing, UK, Karen Ousey has a long and varied history in education, including a BA in economics and social studies, as well as an MA in health service management. She achieved her PhD from the University of Salford, UK, in 2007, and later earned a degree in chartered managing from the University of Huddersfield, UK, where she now works as a Professor of Skin Integrity and is the Director of the Institute for Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention.

Currently, she is a Visiting Professor at Swindburn University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, as well as a Visiting Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia. Ousey is also a Visiting Adjust Professor at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. However, Ousey also shares her knowledge with the world by organising and hosting Wounds Week, which is held virtually twice a year.

In her spare time, Ousey enjoys watching superhero films, and particularly likes ones by Marvel. A self-confessed poor loser, Ousey’s favourite place to visit is Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, where she revels in playing the slot machines.
