Dr Wexner is an internationally renowned colorectal surgeon, serving as a Professor of Surgery at Ohio State University alongside his role at the Cleveland Clinic, as well as various other academic appointments. Dr Wexner acts as Editor-in-Chief for the medical journal ‘Surgery’, and has hundreds of publications to his name, including notable research papers and textbook chapters. In fact, in the field of colorectal surgery, Dr Wexner is the 3rd most cited author of all time, and the most cited living author.
Among the awards and leadership positions that have been attributed to him are Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at University College, London, and Vice-Chair of the Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons. Dr Wexner is a founder of the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC), and in surgery, he has pioneered the use of J-Pouch Procedures and Incontinence and Constipation scores. Dr Wexner comes from a lineage of politicians, and is also father to two sons.
