Words by GOLD newsdesk

Dr Yvonne Greenstreet, CEO, Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, has been announced as the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association’s (HBA) Woman of the Year for 2024.

The annual award is given to an outstanding female executive working in healthcare and pharmaceuticals who has a record of championing women in the workplace.

Dr Greenstreet received the prize for three decades of hard work in the biopharmaceutical industry, much of it in the area of healthcare development and delivery.

One of only a handful of female biopharma CEOs, Dr Greenstreet graduated from her role as COO and President of Alnylam to become CEO in 2022.

Her achievements include helping the company translate the Nobel Prize-winning science of RNA interference (RNAi) into a whole new class of medicines, and taking Alnylam from an R&D organisation to a consequential global biotechnology company.

Under her leadership, Alnylam has also received recognition for its commitment to social responsibility and positive workplace culture. This includes earning a place on Fortune’s ‘Best Workplaces for Women’ list.

Mary Stutts, CEO, HBA, said that the organisation was proud to recognise Dr Greenstreet and the other award winners for their “notable and remarkable commitment and valuable contributions to women in the healthcare ecosystem”.

The two other prizes, the HBA Honorable Mentor, and the Strategic Transformation Achievement Recognition (STAR), were won by Dr Otis Johnson, Co-founder and Principal Consultant, Trial Equity, and Kathrin Schoenborn, Chair Emerita, HBA Europe, respectively.

The award ceremony is taking place on 10 May 2024 in New York.
