Speaker bio:

Alexander Lühr Hansen has both a medical degree and Master’s from the University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Denmark, and a particular interest in the study of birthweight. Recently, he held a residency in the Department of Gastroenterology, Herlev Hospital, Denmark, and has been a Resident at Odense University Hospital, in the Department of Infectious Disease. On top of this, Lühr Hansen completed the DARE Fellowship Program in medical research at Stanford University, California, USA, and the University of California, San Francisco, USA.

Lühr Hansen has presented multiple abstracts at annual European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) meetings, and has published papers on the topics of adverse pregnancy outcomes and heart failure, as well as birthweight associations with clinical characteristics in patients with Type 2 diabetes. Currently, he is working as part of a research group at the Steno Diabetes Center, Copenhagen, Denmark, with a specific focus on fetal programming and leading the observational study aspects to this research. In the near future, Lühr Hansen will be working in London to develop risk prediction algorithms and prognostic models for outcomes in patients with Type 2 diabetes, collaborating with the Precision Healthcare University Research Institute at Queen Mary University of London, UK.
