This week, Jonathan’s is joined by James Kim, Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Family Medicine, University of Calgary, Canada. Kim talks about his time studying and working in different continents and the differences in healthcare that struck him during these experiences. Jonathan and Kim also discuss the treatment of chronic migraine using botox and how this compares with the traditional prescription of painkillers, as well as the link between climate change and chronic disease.

Speaker Bio:

James Kim is a general practitioner in Calgary, Canada, with a special interest in chronic disease, especially diabetes and chronic migraine. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Family Medicine, University of Calgary, Canada.

After graduating from medical school in South Africa, Kim completed a post-graduate diploma in diabetes in 2012. He has given numerous presentations locally and nationally on the topics of diabetes, chronic migraine, binge eating disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and respiratory medicine. Within Diabetes Canada, Kim’s holds numerous roles, including a member of the Steering Committee for the Clinical Practice Guideline and is the current Co-chair of the Primary Care Special Interest Group, and has been a scientific planning committee member for the Annual Diabetes Canada Conference. Most recently, Kim has been invited to join CADDRA’s education committee for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. He is currently involved with PIONEER REAL research as the site lead investigator.
