Michela Starace earned a medical degree from the University of Bologna, Italy, and then her PhD from the same institution. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences at the university. Starace is involved in numerous societies, is a founding member of the International Nail Society, and is responsible for organising the National Alopecia Areata Day in Italy. Starace is a prolific author, having published 178 papers in Italian and international journals, as well as having written 25 book chapters.
In her spare time, Michela used to bravely take part in free climbing. She enjoys spending time with her family and going on boating holidays in the south of Italy.
