Introducing EMJ Nephrology 4.1

United Kingdom, July 5, 2016: Welcome to the 2016 edition of EMJ Nephrology, which provides extensive coverage of research and developments across the field of nephrology. The journal features an in-depth review of the 53rd European Renal Association – European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) Congress recently held in Vienna, Austria. The congress played host to a wide range of insightful talks exploring topics of great importance to nephrologists. This included the growing role of genetics in treatment and management strategies, concerns surrounding approaches to dialysis in kidney disease, and the long-term risks for kidney donors.

The journal provides a collection of abstract reviews offering a concise understanding of how these topics and others were approached at the congress. This includes Szummer’s cardiology perspective on treatments for chronic kidney disease, a discussion of the risks of kidney donation based on long-term follow-up data from Mjøen, and the use of intracellular signals as druggable targets in renal inflammation by Egido and Gómez-Guerrero. Members of the EMJ Nephrology Editorial Board have also offered their take on some of the research presented at this year’s congress. Their combined knowledge and experience of the field make the interviews section of the journal a fascinating read.

There is also a selection of the very best peer-reviewed articles from across the field. Di Lullo et al. have put forward an important update on vascular and valvular calcifications in chronic kidney disease, and Bargenda et al. report the results of a study into potential biomarkers of paediatric chronic kidney disease. In addition, there are articles on the topics of uric acid in chronic kidney disease, metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients on dialysis, and much more. The full eJournal is available now.

Zoë Webster, Head of Publishing at EMJ said: “The EMJ team has worked hard to ensure the publication of a high-quality journal that explores a range of important topics from the field of nephrology. We are confident that it will provide an informative and engaging read for all readers.”
