At a Takeda-sponsored symposium held at the 51st Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes in Stockholm, Sweden, on the 14th September 2015, Prof Jørgen Rungby of the Gentofte University Hospital, Hellerup, Copenhagen, Denmark, describes the management of Type 2 diabetes and how this is even more complex in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. The correct choice of treatment requires an awareness of the complications faced by post-ACS patients, as well as familiarity with the known cardiovascular safety profiles of available oral antidiabetic drugs.
