Partha Kar was initially educated in India, obtaining his medical degree from the NRS Medical School and College, Calcutta, India. Since then, he has had several impressive roles, including course director at the Royal College of General Practitioners, National Innovation Lead for Diabetes in the National Health Service (NHS), and clinical lead for the Medical Workforce Race Equality Standards (MWRES).
During his career, Kar has helped to expand the use of technology in Type 1 diabetes, namely advocating for the use of flash glucose monitoring for Type 1 diabetes during pregnancy, along with the use of online digital self-management platforms. His work has been recognised by a wealth of awards, including an OBE for his services to diabetes care in 2021. He has also been recognised as one of the most influential figures from the ethnic minority population across healthcare in the UK by the Healthcare Service Journal in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
