Speakers have received honoraria from UCB for their participation on the symposium titled ‘Dermatology and Obstetrics: How Can Teamwork Lead to Compatible Treatment Choices for Women with Psoriasis?’. This symposium took place on 13th October 2023, as part of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) congress in Berlin, Germany. UCB hosted an industry expert hub session entitled ‘Dermatology and Obstetrics: How Can Teamwork Lead to Compatible Treatment Choices for Women with Psoriasis?’ at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) 2023 congress in Berlin, Germany. The distinguished panel featured Brigitte Stephan, Senior Physician, University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany; Laura Salgado, Dermatologist, University Hospital of Pontevedra, Spain; and Aarthi Mohan, Specialist in Maternal Medicine at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol, UK, and explored the following:
- Early family planning to help align perspectives and expectations between the patient and their healthcare provider.
- The importance of disease control before, during, and after pregnancy, and using pre-pregnancy consultations to avoid unintentional use of teratogens.
- Improved pregnancy outcomes following adequate treatment for psoriasis during pregnancy, and available treatment options that have an acceptable risk-benefit profile for use during pregnancy.
