Leading medical tech and innovation business LivaNova chose to use EMJ – and its specialist infographic services – to make a complex story easy to digest for its audiences, driving excellent engagement. Here’s what they did:
The client
LivaNova is a global medical technology company built on decades of experience and a relentless commitment to patients. Its focus is transforming lives with products and therapies for the head and heart.
Its diverse product portfolio and pipeline includes therapeutic areas like advanced circulatory support; cardiopulmonary; difficult-to-treat depression, drug-resistant epilepsy; heart failure and obstructive sleep apnea.

What they asked EMJ to do
In December 2021, LivaNova briefed EMJ to help them fill an educational gap left by a lack of face-to-face time as they looked to increase awareness around patients suffering with epilepsy and depression, as well as the further impact of Covid-19.
What EMJ recommended
EMJ recommended producing an infographic – which was a new product from the publisher – specifically designed to make it easier to digest complex information.
The infographic explored depression in patients with epilepsy, focusing on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Questioning what healthcare professionals can do to help, the collateral analysed the epidemiology of depression and noted the differences between patients with controlled epilepsy and those with drug-resistant epilepsy.
EMJ posted the infographic in its digital neurology journal and generated an excellent response – far exceeding expectations.
The infographic can be accessed here.
Comment from EMJ
EMJ account manager Jack Moore said: “Infographics are a brilliant tool for getting complex messages out which can be easily viewed and downloaded by key audiences. We are very pleased with the results.”
Comment from LivaNova
LivaNova’s Maxine Dibué-Adjei, Director Medical Affairs International Neuromodulation, said: “EMJ were able to visually depict and consolidate a bulk of clinical data into an informative and intuitive infographic on the key aspects relevant to clinicians when it comes to managing depressive symptoms an depression in patients with epilepsy, a topic often overlooked in clinical practice. Not only did EMJ achieve widespread visibility of the infographic, they also were able to design and disseminate the infographic in a way that physicians took time to engage with the content in a way that promises to inform an improvement in patient care in epilepsy.”
