Exposure to the sun’s radiation can be harmful to the skin, and the degree of the damage caused is dependent on factors such as the length of sun exposure and the skin phototype. Ultraviolet (UV) A and B, visible light, and infrared radiation all penetrate the skin at varying depths and cause various levels of damage to the skin, from hyperpigmentation to life-threatening skin cancer. However, this article also explored how some inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis can benefit from sun exposure.
